These days, airlines and large tour operators all want to 'deal directly with the passenger/s on the Internet'. This does
have some benefits, it gives you -

3. The ability give crap service without much chance of you going elsewhere.

Ferries
Ferry services can be used to go on a day trip or weekend break to La Gomera or further extensive travel
around the Canary Islands, or even to mainland Spain (Cadiz is the common mainland port used).
